- Film fest of short films (in English!) produced by Oxford House students

Halloween contest winners

As you can see, many Oxford House students between ages 4 and 17 submitted drawings or stories in the Halloween contest.

In the end, the following winners were chosen:
6 to 8-year-olds winner: Eduard Cole Rodriguez
8 to 12-year-olds winner: Carles Roca Alguacil
12 to 15-year-olds winner: Gerard Pinar Baillés
15 to 17-year-olds winner: Alexandra Shynkarenko

Professors, alumnes i amics participen en un concurs de preguntes sobre història i esports mentre practiquen anglès, català i castellà.

Profesores, alumnos y amigos participan en un concurso de preguntas sobre historia y deportes mientras practican inglés, catalán y castellano.

Teachers, students and friends compete in a history and sport themed pub quiz in English, Catalan and Spanish.

Open Doors Days

18, 19, 21 November

Each trimester Oxford House organizes Open Doors Days for kids and teens English classes. On these days, we invite parents to visit their son or daughter's class to see his or her progress and the projects that have been done. During the parents' visit, each class will have something special to present, like a song, short play, or story.

The kids are looking forward to sharing all they've learned with you!

Conversation Club - 16 Oct 2009

Last week Mery led a great discussion about the Olympic Games. Here's the link to our notes about language use. 

Next week the topic is 'corruption'. If Andrés has any links to articles he'd like us to read before next Friday, he'll post them on Facebook.

New vids!

We've got some new videos of students and teachers explaining their experiences at Oxford House. Some are in English, some Spanish and some Catalan. What a multilingual place we live!

You can see more videos on the Oxford House YouTube channel. 

Also keep your ears open for info on the Oxford House Film Fest. Certain classes will make under-5-minute videos to enter in a competition to be held in December. The best videos will go on our YouTube channel.

Conversation Club - 9 Oct 2009

Conversation Club has commenced!

On Friday, the first Conversation Club group met at the school with Course Director Claire Venables. Claire led the group in a discussion, correcting the participants and keeping notes, which were later posted on the Oxford House Facebook profile.

Next week, Mery will lead a discussion about the Olympic Games.

Vacation's over. It's time to work and learn!

The teachers and staff at Oxford House recently had their beginning of year meeting, to make sure everyone was on the same page, and that this year would be even better than the last.

In the classrooms, the students were looking ready to learn.
